Vilas
Inspired by an artistic collaboration with choreographer Daniel Michna, VILAS is a five-track concept EP based on the stories of the Vilas-female spirits from Slavic mythology. Rather than portraying them as supernatural demons, the project reimagines them as vulnerable young women searching for love, acceptance, and belonging.
Each composition represents a stage of their personal transformation. Void depicts their awakening after death; Independence celebrates solidarity with fellow Vilas and the empowerment found through shared experience; Lumière explores the duality of their nature, where seduction and the capacity for love coexist; Abandoned confronts the trauma, loneliness, and longing that define their past; while Surrender embraces the acceptance of both light and darkness, revealing that the Vilas are as profoundly human as they are supernatural.
Musically Vilas is a mixture of Slavic folk, experimental electronics and cinematic orchestral sound. VILAS explores themes of identity, healing, and self-acceptance through a contemporary reimagining of Slavic folklore.
