Winter Journey

Set during Halloween, Winter Journey follows Yusef, a young man working at a waste recycling plant whose life is marked by routine, disappointment, and growing despair. As the hunt for a cow that has escaped slaughter unfolds live on television as seasonal entertainment, Yusef reaches an emotional breaking point after a series of personal setbacks. Wandering through a cemetery, he finds a moment of peace lying in a freshly dug grave, only for the silence to be interrupted by the mysterious arrival of Boq, an unusually talkative stranger who extends a helping hand.

Julia composed the original score, combining atmospheric string writing with ambient textures to mirror the film's emotional journey between isolation, absurdity, and hope. The music complements the film's surreal visual language. Winter Journey was selected for Hollywood Shorts Fest, where it was presented as part of the festival's official programme (in 2024).
