Bio

Julia Owczarek is a London-based composer and violinist creating hybrid scores that blend orchestral writing, electronics and folk influences. A classically trained musician (Academy of Music in Łódź), she uses the violin not only for haunting melodies but also as a sound-design source, building unusual textures through extended techniques and post-production processing. She holds a Master’s in Scoring for Film, TV & Video Games from Berklee College of Music.

Her latest EP, VILAS, traces Slavic mythology through epic dark-folk textures and intimate string writing. Selected composer credits include the Cannes-nominated animation Beasts Among Us, the award-winning documentary In My Words (Our Borderlands), and La Tierra de Amira, which has been presented at numerous festivals including the 22nd Seville European Film Festival and the Almería International Film Festival. Her other notable collaborations include working with L-Acoustics to explore spatial composition in 360 degrees, with support from the Alliance for Women Film Composers.

Julia divides her time between composing and music department work as a copyist, music librarian and orchestrator. Her credits in this field include Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Beau Is Afraid and Mother Mary. She also works as a session violinist, specialising in remote recordings for screen and installations. Recent projects include recording and orchestrating violin parts for Dream, an installation presented at the Light Move Festival in Łódź, and recording multiple violin parts for the award-winning dance film Beyond the Plaques.

Prepared instrumental parts with clearly engraved notation

Music Preparation, Copying & Orchestration

I provide professional music preparation, score copying and engraving, orchestration and transcription services, supporting composers from the preparation of musical materials to the recording studio.

As a music librarian and copyist, I believe that clarity and efficiency are essential to producing professional, high-quality scores and parts for performances and recording sessions. Working in Sibelius, I prepare clean, carefully formatted materials with close attention to details, ensuring that every score and part is clear and easy to read.

My music preparation services include printing, taping, binding and organising scores and instrumental parts, ready for recording sessions. I use high-quality 120 gsm paper to ensure that your parts are durable and stay securely on the music stand throughout the recording session.

I can arrange delivery to studios across London and post materials to other locations throughout the UK. I can also attend recording sessions in person, making any necessary adjustments to the materials in real time and preparing and printing revised parts whenever last-minute changes arise.

I also offer orchestration and transcription services, working with composers to support the preparation and development of their musical projects.

Whether you need recording materials prepared, scores and parts copied and engraved, music orchestrated or a recording transcribed, I offer a reliable, flexible and detail-oriented service tailored to your project.

Violin Recordings

I offer high-quality violin recordings from my own studio, working closely with composers, musicians and music producers to bring their musical ideas to life.

My playing draws on a diverse musical background, from classical music and Irish and Slavic folk traditions to contemporary and experimental sounds. Whether you need an expressive melodic line, rich layers to enhance a MIDI mock-up or unconventional violin textures and sound effects, I am happy to explore the possibilities of the instrument with you.

I record using high-quality studio equipment, including Shure KSM32 condenser microphone.

As a composer myself, I understand the importance of finding the right sound for each project. I am always happy to experiment with different playing techniques, create multiple takes for layering and explore unusual sounds to help you achieve your musical vision.
